Ike Taylor Song
28 February, 2006 - 12:17 p.m.

Time for a shameless plug. First, anyone that's been reading a while knows that John is in a band. I'm a little biased, of course, but even when I attempt to strip that away, I still think they are quite good. They are all very talented musicians, and I know people say that all the time about their friends and family, but people that don't even know them say the same thing. You can check out the band, echobox, at their web site or their MySpace page where you can hear a couple of their tunes. Keep in mind the songs were mixed at home and are still a bit rough.

What I really want to plug is a project John and his brother did on the side over the weekend. BIL goes to a local bar near where he works quite often. Steelers player, Ike Taylor, lives near the bar and often hangs out there. BIL met him quite a while ago, when the Steelers were looking pretty crapalicious. But that didn't matter and the bar and all it's regular patrons dedicated themselves to Ike and gave the bar the unofficial subtitle of "Ike's House of Whoopass". Now that the Steelers won the Super Bowl, Ike's House of Whoopass had to throw a party in his honor, and John and BIL made a parodie/tribute song for this event.

I didn't expect a whole lot from this project, since it had to be put together quickly. I thought it would be a thousand times better than the "Here We Go" song, or even the Polamalu song. Their song far exceeded my expectations though, and I think it's going to be a big local thing, especially now that Ike Taylor is considered to be one of the top five Cornerbacks in the NFL and the Steelers' Super Bowl win. Ike is a real sweetheart too, so it makes it extra cool that John and BIL did something like this for him.

Check out their song!
